Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a rapid and effective way of enhancing your appearance by smoothing out lines and adding volume.

As we age, the underlying tissues that keep our skin looking youthful and firm begin to break down due to the effects of gravity, sun damage, diet , smoking, stress, environment and our genetics. Over time, these factors contribute to the development of fine lines, wrinkles, creases and creping.

Fillers are gel based, including a substance that naturally exists in your body. The gel is injected into or just under the skin and restores volume and structure offering a natural look that is more youthful and enhances facial beauty. There are numerous dermal fillers, each with their unique composition and properties.

Fillers can be used to fill volume deficits such as tear troughs under the eyes and to restore scars, also to increase fullness of the lips and to lessen the downward slant of the corner of the mouth.

The most common areas treated by dermal fillers are the nasolabial folds, lips, fine lines above the mouth, marionette lines and turned down mouths. The benefits are immediate and long lasting without being permanent, giving you the freedom of choice to maintain the effect as you get older.

We do not offer any permanent fillers at East Coast Laser and Cosmetic Clinic as we want you to have the freedom to create the look you desire through all the different stages of your life. Our opinion of permanent fillers is that safety profile is not as high as temporary fillers. Permanent fillers have previously been fraught with complications such as severe infections and lump formation that require surgical excision.

There are few risks associated with the use of dermal fillers and few long -term side effects with the temporary fillers used at East Coast Laser & Cosmetic Clinic. Allergic reactions are rare and no pre testing is required with the products we use. Dermal fillers have been used in Cosmetics for over 20 years.

Dermal fillers will require some form of anaesthesia. At East Coast laser & Cosmetic Clinic we use a number of anaesthetic techniques, ranging from ice, potent topical anaesthetic creams, and local anaesthetic injections to dental anaesthetic blocks. In the hands of our experienced injectors, the entire procedure is associated with only minimal discomfort. All our fillers used are premium quality, meaning we offer you filler with local anaesthetic mixed in; giving you the best comfort . Not all clinics offer this and this may explain why they can offer a cheaper option but with much less comfort!

The trend today is offering a natural looking non surgical facelift by adding volume to the Midface with the use of specific fillers that provide soft but firm volume that lasts up to two years.

At East Coast laser and Cosmetic Clinic we choose to use medium and long term fillers due to their safety profile and exceptional results. In medium term ( 6-9 months) and long term ( 9months to 2 years) the clear biodegradable gel based on a natural sugar present in normal skin also helps to hydrate the skin by binding water, giving your skin a smoother and more supple texture. They assist in the production of new collagen by stimulating fibroblasts and hence improve the natural texture and elasticity of skin thus promoting skin firmness.

What are the side effects of Filler treatments?

You can expect some transient redness after the injections. You can expect some swelling to occur after the procedure, especially with any lip enhancement. Swelling often takes up to three days to settle. Bruising is the main concern as this can occur at any time and can take up to a week or two to completely disappear. Make-up and lipstick can be worn if desired soon after treatment, should there be a need to hide a bruise. Please note bruising does not always occur and is generally short lived!

Occasionally asymmetry is possible, but correctable on a subsequent visit. Small lumps can occur which usually dissipate in a few weeks or can be easily corrected by gentle massage by the Nurse. Very rarely a lump can be removed by dissolving the filler with a product.

To minimize bruising, it is recommended to avoid anti- inflammatory such as Aspirin( except for medical reason) and Nurofen, green tea, garlic, ginko and other herbal products that may thin the blood for up to a week prior. Alcohol is also not a good idea on the day and even kept to a minimum the day prior. We also encourage clients to commence arnica tablets a few days before treatment if bruising is a real concern. If you suffer from cold sores our Doctor may need to prescribe anti viral medication to be taken prior to treatment to prevent flare ups.

Cost

The cost of dermal fillers will depend on the amount of filler required as well as the type of filler used. Each client is assessed on consultation and advised on how much filler is required for the desired effect. Cost will be provided at consultation and a treatment plan to suit your budget can be formulated. Treatments can be spread out over time to fit in with your budget and as a means to gain the desired result gradually.

Please note that the total unit price of treatment is discounted when multiple syringes of filler are used at a treatment session or in combination to anti wrinkle treatment! Also; we guarantee that we will match any Port Macquarie competitors with Advanced Allergan training on their written price for same injectable product!.
